About Guillermo Carrillo

The artwork of Guillermo Carrillo is strongly influenced by the colorful landscapes of his native Colombia, South America.  Born in the seaside Caribbean town of Santa Marta, Guillermo spent his formative years living on a banana plantation in Turbo, Colombia.  He worked for several years at the Cultural Institute of Magdalena promoting local interest in the arts.  A longtime dancer and visual artist, Guillermo's work explores rural themes, including South American folklore, tropical flora and fauna, and natural landscapes.  He immigrated to the United States in 1992 and has studied drawing and painting at the American Academy of Art and Palette and Chisel.  He is currently a resident artist at the Cornelia Arts Center.
